About Hangzhou in China
Lying on the Fuchun River at the head of Hangzhou Bay, Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province of China. Long famous as silk-producing center, Hangzhou has recently been developed into a major industrial complex of China. It has a population of around 1.80 million.
The city of Hangzhou is listed as one of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China. Hangzhou is also well known for its beautiful natural scenery, with the West Lake and Leifeng Pagoda, as well as Feilai Feng Caves. Marco Polo, who visited it in the late 13th century, described it as the finest and noblest city in the world.
