About Dijon in France
Located at the foot of the Cte d'Or hills in eastern France, Dijon is the historical capital of the province of Burgundy. Dijon is well known for its mustard and cassis. The city of Dijon is also one of France's wine region and is a transportation hub and industrial center. It is close to other two big cities, which is about 312kms southeast of Paris and 320kms northeast of Lyon. It was also the birthplace of Gustave Eiffel, who built the Eiffel tower in Paris.
Dijon has a well-preserved medieval center where has the largest number of historic buildings more than 300 years old of France, such as the Rue de la Chouette and Verrerie, making it the most popular attraction in the city.
There are many gallantchurches and cathedrals including the Cathedral of St. Bénigne, the Church of Notre Dame, St. Michael's Church, and the Palace of Justice. The funeral statues of the dukes is housed in the Town Hall. It is regarded as an art treasure of the city.
