About Grenoble in France

Located in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains, Grenoble is the capital of the French Alpes. It is second economic region in France after Paris, making a center of business, industry, research and academia as well as information and communications technology in the country. It is also home to many international firms, including Cap Gemini, Photo-Me, Radiall and Rossignol. The Grenoble is also home to the third largest universiy in France - Grenoble Universités.

Grenoble is famous for alpine landscapes and ski. The Bastille is an advantage point to overlook the town and the surrounding mountains. The city of Grenoble has a number of historic buildings. Musée de Grenoble, housing a fine collection of Flemish and Italian Renaissance works, is one of France's oldest art museums. Site National Historique De La Resistance En Vercors is a symbol of French history. Built to fortify French borders, Fort Du Murier is a good example of the fortifications of that period. La Casamaures is a mock Oriental palace, which is an example of orientalist architecture. Other attractions include Abbaye De Saint Chef, Fort Barraux, Fort Du Saint Eynard and La Bastille, as well as Horloge Solaire.
