Located on southwest of Luzon Island and Manila Bay, Manila is the capital and largest city of the Philippines. Metro Manila is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Asia. It is a main port and the political, commercial, manufacturing, industrial, educational and cultural centre of the Philippines. The city of Manila has a tropical climate throughout the year.
Manila has a large number of historical sites and attractions. Filipinas Heritage Library was formerly an old airport terminal building, which is now converted into a restaurant called Nielson Tower. The walled city of Intramuros which was built in 1571, is the only Europea-style medieval fortification in Asia. Known as Intramuros, the old Spanish walled city contains some historical buildings and ruins, like Fort Santiago, San Agustin and the Manila Cathedral. The Central Bank Money Museum displays beads, coins, and other antiques from past to the present day. Other attractions include Apolinario Mabini Shrine, City Hall, Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden, as well as Rajah Sulayman Park.
