About Barcelona in Spain

Located on the northeast coast of the Lberian Peninsula, Barcelona is capital city of Catalonia province and the second largest city of Spain, after Madrid. Its port is the largest port of the country. It is now an important educational, cultural, commercial and industrial center. Barcelona is the most cosmopolitan city in Spain, with a population of around 1.6 million people. Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate, with mild, dry weather in winter and warm, humid weather in summer.

Barcelona has a large number of attractions to offer visitors. Sagrada Familia is a giant temple designed by the master architect Antonio Gaudi. Also known as La Pedrera, Casa Mila is another masterpiece of Antonio Gaudi's creations. Picasso Museum has the most complete collection of Picasso's early years, with many works during Blue Period. The Gaudi Museum is a pink house in which Gaudi lived with his niece during 1906 and 1926. The Catalonian National Museum of Art is housed in the National Palace, which has a collection of Romanesque and Gothic works. The Barcelona Cathedral is a fine example of Catalan Gothic architecture, which was built to memorize Santa Eulalia who was killed by the Romans for her Catholic faith. Park Guell is one of Barcelona's largest urban parks. Located in the city park, Barcelona Zoo has a wide variety of animals such as birds, dolphins, monkeys, lions and so on. Other tourist attractions in Barcelona include Port Vell, Miro Foundation, La Rambla, and Gothic Quarter, as well as Olympic Gallery.
