About Stockholm in Sweden

Located on the Baltic Sea in southern Sweden, Stockholm is the capital and the largest city of the country. It is now the political, commercial, financial, cultural and transportation center of the country. Stockholm has a population of around 1.6 million people. Influenced by the city's high northern latitude, the climate of Stockholm is extremely varied with four distinct seasons. Built on many islands and peninsulas, Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Well known as “Venice of the North” , Stockholm offers a number of attractions to visitors. The Old Town, or Gamla Stan is covered by a number of medieval streets. The Royal Palace is located in the Old Town. The City Hall is one of Sweden's most important buildings in the National Romantic style. The Vasa Museum is home to the royal flagship Vasa, which is one of the most unusual museums in Europe. Drottningholm Theatre is 18th-century court theatre of the Royal Palace of Drottningholm. Skansen is the oldest open-air museum in the world. It is also a zoo park. Other tourist attractions include Stockholm Cathedral, Historical Museum, National Museum of Art and Thiel Gallery.
