About Berne in Switzerland
Located along the sinuous loop of the river Aare in the west of the country, Berne is the capital of Switzerland. It is a political, educational, industrial center and transportation hub of Switzerland. Berne has a continental climate, with mild weather. The city of Bern has a population of around 130,000 residents.
Berne boasts its large number of well-preserved medieval architecture and fine museums. Zytglogge is a medieval clock tower with rotational puppets. The Munster cathedral is a beautiful example of 15th century Gothic architecture.
The Federal Parliament Building is home to the Swiss national government. The Rosengarten (Garden of Roses) is a must-see attraction. The Natural History Museum is world renowned for its most important diorama displays in Europe, presenting birds and mammals at home and abroad. Other tourist attractions include Historical Museum, Museum of Arts, Marksmen Museum, Baerengrabe and Einstein House.
